Danskin has been in the business of creating active wear for plenty of years. They now carry a huge selection of clothes and this selection includes active wear for plus-size people. However, Danskin did not start out with this.

Danskin created in 1882 used to be your simple dry goods store. They were in the business of importing hosiery and their customers were mainly women. When the 1920’s came, Danskin started to add dance wear to their inventory. They started to sell nylon Danskin tights and leotards. While most women during that era did not have a need for these kinds of clothing, Danskin did make a lot of money with dance troupes in the locality.

The International Playtex Company purchased Danskin in 1950 and the name was changed. The name was changed back in 1980 and the company started to offer its stock publicly in 1986. Between the 50’s and the 60’s, Danskin became the top manufacturer selling dance wear and leotards. They became a favourite when they started to include snap closures to give wearers an easier time. The leotard was also simplified and Danskin came up with today’s kind of pantyhose.

The year 1987 was a breakthrough for Daskin’s because they began creating dance wear for plus-sized women. They called these Danskin Plus. They also created shorter skirts for women. Danskin now has a huge selection of soft dance and sports wear that gives the wearer maximum flexibility. This is featured in the line called Zen Sport. The pieces in this line allow the wearer to flex and to move any which way they need to. It is perfect to wear for yoga and dance classes. Even the plus-size line features clothing like tops, capris, leotards, hosiery, and Danskin bike shorts.

Plus-sized women who wish to find good looking and comfortable exercise wear will have a good time shopping at Danskin. They can find basic t-shirts, midriff tops, and tank tops. There are also selections on jackets and sweat shirts. There are plenty of styles offered when it comes to active wear for plus-sized people. When it comes to pants, Danskin has capris, shorts, bicycle shorts, and long pants. Shoes are also included as they also have the Capezio jazz slip-on and the Capezio Oxford jazz shoes. True to Danskin style, these shoes are created to allow flexibility with foot movement.
